Challenge

Nearly two decades after its original debut, Prison Break shot to the top of Nielsen's streaming rankings during its second week on Netflix, requiring music that would resonate with audiences worldwide.

Solution

We provided tracks from BTM artists including 'Menace to Society' and 'This Is War' by G-$tack, and 'Keep The Joint Rockin'' and 'Willing to Die' by John.

Results

The exposure was incredible, with co-writer/producer inquiries flooding in from around the globe—Russia, the Middle East, the U.S., and beyond. One track, 'Willing to Die,' has since garnered over 3.4 million streams on Spotify.

Prison Break (FOX / Netflix) – Global Impact, Street Cred

Nearly two decades after its original debut, Prison Break shot to the top of Nielsen's streaming rankings during its second week on Netflix—reminding the world just how powerful great storytelling (and great music) can be.

When music supervisor Michelle Silverman first reached out to Black Toast Music, we knew this gritty, high-stakes series about a man breaking his brother out of prison had serious potential. But no one could have predicted just how massive the show would become—or how deeply our music would resonate with audiences worldwide.

BTM artists were featured throughout the series, including standout tracks like:

  • "Menace to Society" and "This Is War" by G-$tack
  • "Keep The Joint Rockin'" and "Willing to Die" by John

The exposure was incredible, but what followed was even more unexpected. Almost overnight, co-writer/producer inquiries flooded in from around the globe—Russia, the Middle East, the U.S., and beyond. Fans were desperate to track down the songs, leading to viral demand, fan-made videos, and even a surprising one from L.A. street gangs, who used "This Is War" in their own edits. Suddenly, we weren't just on TV—we had serious street cred.

One track in particular, "Willing to Die" (co-written with St. John), has since garnered over 3.4 million streams on Spotify, all sparked by its memorable TV placements.

This project reminded us why we do what we do: because the right music in the right moment doesn't just support a scene—it can become a cultural lightning rod. We're honored to have played a role in Prison Break's sonic identity and ongoing legacy.

Huge thanks to Michelle Silverman—a joy to collaborate with then and now.
